I hate to admit it, but I’m old enough to remember a time before the cell phone arrived in 1985 and changed the world forever. Back then “phone booths” were everywhere. If you were out and about and needed to make a call, you pulled your car over at a gas station or convenience store and stepped in to one of these four by four foot square glass enclosures, dropped a quarter in the slot and had a private conversation with someone on the other end of the line.
Within just a few years everyone was walking around with a high-tech wireless phone in their hand and the iconic phone booth all but disappeared from the landscape…but now they’re coming back! Open office concepts have become the norm – but designers seem to have forgotten about the need for an occasional private phone call. And as more and more of us are working from home, coffee shops have become a common place to work. Ever try to take a phone call at a coffee shop? Not good.
When we opened Parlay Café in the Promenade Mall in Temecula we wanted to create the perfect environment for our members to work from while out and about – so we added a new version of the proven phonebooth – need to make or take a call while working in our Members Lounge? Just step inside and have at it – you will be amazed at how well our phone booths block out the surrounding noise and give you some cherished privacy.
Do you work from home or on the road? Next time you are in Temecula come and check out Parlay Café at the Promenade Mall. We built Parlay for you. You can find us in the outdoor area, downstairs between Macy’s and the Yard House. Daily and monthly passes are available – ask for a tour!
