It is often said that a successful business is one that can adapt to both the market and wider socioeconomic and cultural trends. So, it might not surprise you to learn that in a time of pandemic concerns, the Great Resignation, “quiet quitting”, historic inflation, and a number of other societal fluctuations, most companies have been forced to rapidly adapt. In fact, this process is still ongoing, with a number of dynamic changes on the way to us all.
But you don’t have to take our word for it. Forbes Magazine recently published this article, predicting the four biggest trends set to hit workplaces this year.
Can you guess what trend topped the list?
If you said remote work, you’re right.
The rise of remote work wasn’t just a temporary anomaly brought on by the pandemic of 2020. It’s here to stay, and because workers have come to expect remote working options, even more companies are making the switch. In 2022, more than half of Americans had the option to work from home at least one day per week, and a whopping 38 percent said they were never expected to set foot in an office at all!
Research on the remote work trend shows that most workers are happier with the arrangement, at least on a part-time basis. Most appreciate saving both time and money by eliminating a daily commute, and the arrangement makes it easier to balance work and family life. And it might surprise you to learn that productivity increases, rather than decreases, when workers are allowed to choose their own workspace (from home or elsewhere).
Of course, any big change will come with both positive and negative downstream effects. For some workers, disconnection from the office can feel socially isolating. For others, certain challenges at home can impede work progress at times. And sometimes a collaborative group effort becomes necessary for creative projects. These are all reasons that the remote work trend also represents a movement toward hybrid workspaces and other creative solutions.
Speaking of that movement, the Parlay Cafe brand is ideally situated to capitalize on the still-growing remote work trend. Remember what we said about successful businesses being the ones that adapt to wider trends? That’s exactly what we plan to do.
